2016 events scheduled so far:
Show: October – December 2016 at the Ygnacio Valley Library,
2661 Oak Grove Rd, Walnut Creek, CA 94598
Includes a special “Meet the Artist” reception on Wednesday, November 16th, from 6:30 to 8 pm. Come on over and check out a preview of my Santa paintings, and hear some of the stories of my newest paintings. I’ll share the challenges of plein air painting and how the results vary tremendously from studio painting.
Now that I live just down the street from the Ygnacio Valley Library, it will be quite fun to have a show and reception there. This new location should be much more convenient for those of you who live in the Walnut Creek/Concord/Pleasant Hill/Danville area.
Show: December 2016 at the Moraga Library, 1500 Saint Mary’s Road, Moraga, CA
This will be my fourth show at the Library in Moraga. It is a fabulous display space and I will have about 26 paintings on exhibit. Especially fun are my Santa paintings and I will have several more just for this show!
Presentation: Painting the Natural World, in Honor of the 100th Anniversary of the National Park Service, May 3, 2016, 6:00-7:30pm, Moraga Library, 1500 Saint Mary’s Road, Moraga, CA
I’m delighted to have been invited to give a presentation about landscape painting at the Moraga Library. Many of you might not be aware that my first career was as a National Park Service Ranger/Naturalist (at Olympic, Death Valley, King’s Canyon and Point Reyes). Although I wasn’t painting outdoors in those days, my love of the parks was cultivated and now I paint in wild places whenever I can.
I will discuss the role landscape painting had in the history of the National Park, what it’s like to paint outside, equipment needed (I’ll bring some of mine for you to see up close), share some of my landscape paintings, and also share works of other painters who are known for their paintings of the National Parks. Hope you can make it!
Check back and I hope to have more shows scheduled!
